Lady, I think you need a reality check. You are trying to put way to much into a pleasant discussion between a husband and wife at the breakfast table about nutrition. She simply says that although cheerios has nutritional value, he still has to go to the gym. Very well stated.
Maybe you are not married. That would make it hard for you to understand....

Great Commercial,

I am so glad I found a forum for this. This commercial is getting on my nerves. I am also a person who thinks that writing down everything is only an extreme occasional measure for a specific weight loss if all else fails, because it messes with instinct. If you are writing down everything you eat, how likely are you to take a sample of pie if that is all you want, or factor in a "piece of pie" and have a piece of pie and assign a number to it. Maybe you don't even want the pie. Secondly, I can't figure out if this woman in this commercial is the wife or the mother and she looks way to matronly to be this man's wife. I think they made her look that way, instead of allowing her to feel dressed up, so she could please the every-woman. We women are not every-women. The guy looks uncomfortable and it looks staged.

You are so brave to share your experience here--and so strong to keep fighting through the pain.

While I've never had the experience of losing--or having--a child, I completely understand the feeling of needing to find yourself in an exterior identity--your parenting skills, your food, your body, your work, etc. It's terribly difficult to sit in front of the mirror, figuratively naked, and just see YOU as you are, not as you are with your layers of identification. And you're right--some of it has to do with the chemical balance, and some of it has to do with the mental cues and ingrained thought processes we've learned to repeat so often that they become second nature.

I wish you so much peace on your journey, as you work toward healing your relationship with your body. I know it's hard to trust your body--especially when it's betrayed you as it has--but just keep focusing on the healing process. (And if you ever need to reach out to someone, I'm here to listen!)

So much love,
Kaila

I've had an early miscarriage while at my lowest weight. I just don't think my body could handle it at the time. When I was at my worst in post-child disordered thoughts, it was that there were only two things I could do right... parent and lose weight. For some reason, I'm much happier when I'm pregnant/nursing and I think it has to do with chemical/hormonal balances. I threw myself into parenting to avoid food/thinking of food.

What a self aware post - nice. Thanks for the mention too! Fertility is a sign of optimal health...if your period is missing, it's time to figure out why and what to do about it. May I suggest The Better Baby Book? www.betterbabybook.com - it's what turned around my wife Lana's PCOS!
